Why should I join the Union?

  • We are no different.  Like you, we take pride in our profession, work to make a living, and are active in our communities and churches.
  • The IBEW does not want to run your business. You choose which jobs you bid, who you place on your projects, who you choose to oversee your projects, you maintain your absentee policies, etc.
  • We are not successful unless you are, and we have been successful for over 100 years now.

What does the Union offer me?

  • A steady supply of manpower as needed
    • No more time spent on finding employees, you can concentrate on bidding more work.
    • Our referral system allows employers to pick up additional manpower as needed, on a long term or short-term basis, to address their current needs.
    • Employees working for an employer signatory to a collective bargaining agreement will have the same wage rate, health insurance and pension plan from employer to employer. This eliminates the issue of employees moving from one employer to another employer just to receive a wage increase, an offer of health insurance or an offer of retirement funds.
  • Highly Trained Manpower
    • 5 year apprenticeship program
    • Provide the opportunity to take more specialized courses
    • OSHA 30
    • All apprentices go through Electrical Safety Related Work Practices based on the NFPA 70E and the course is available to all members
